St George Neighbourhood Partnership Development Sub-Group
This sub-group was set up by the
St George Neighbourhood Partnership (SGNP) to preserve and enhance the character of our
area, its green spaces, trees and amenities.
The group is doing this by:
- Acting as a point of contact for developers considering developments of more than 10 dwellings or 1,000 square metres.
- Creating a local neighbourhood plan to act as a guide for planning decisions and the future development of
St George
Current projects in which we have an interest:
- application 11/05333/F - conversion of St George Baptist Church to onclude 11 flats as well as community space
-
Last development on which we commented:
- application 11/01729/F for the development of 80 houses in Brook Rd
Our approach to the local neighbourhood plan
We are using information from
- a study carried out for us in 2010 to identify the aspirations for St George
- our own survey of resources in the local area
- the "zoning" proposals in the Site Allocations document for St George.
Once we have put together our proposals we will present them for discusssion at a St George Neighbourhood Forum.
Community Resources Audit
We have recorded details of some of the community resources (community centres, sports facilities, etc) in
St George and are looking forward to merging that with an audit carried out by Bristol City Council in the
area in the near future.
Public Transport - St George Bus/Rail Link?
One of the aspirations identified by a study in 2010 was to have better public transport. A study to find a
possible solution was carried out in May of 2011. The proposals will be presented at the next St George
Neighbourhood Forum. A summary of the proposals can be found on page 3 of the Friends of Troopers Hill
Summer newsletter . The full report can be seen
here.
If you have an interest in this public transport proposal, want to become more generally involved in our group's work
or just want more information, please contact us via the details given at the foot of this page
Our next meeting is on Monday 12th March at 7pm
